Samsung Begins Mass Production Of 90Hz OLED Laptop Screens

For the most part when it comes to displays, the standard refresh rate has been 60Hz. Only in higher-end displays aimed at gamers do we typically see refresh rates go to 90Hz, 120Hz, or even higher. The good news is that soon we might be able to look forward to 90Hz being the standard.

This is because Samsung Display has announced that they have kicked off mass production on 90Hz OLED panels that are designed for laptops, and that the first company to take advantage of these new displays would be ASUS where they plan on using it in an upcoming 14-inch laptop.

According to Samsung, “The 90Hz OLED panel offers more options for consumers who are looking to enjoy high-performance content on their laptops. With our innovative OLEDs, we’re further pioneering and leading the market in display technologies that offer superior image quality.”

It has been speculated that maybe these displays could also find their way to Apple’s MacBooks. There are rumors of a 14-inch MacBook Pro, plus Apple does source their OLEDs from Samsung, so it’s not that much of a stretch. However, there are also other rumors that claim that Apple might actually use mini LEDs for their MacBooks, not OLED, so there’s that too.
