Forza Horizon 5 Will Be Getting Sign Language Interpreters

Many of us who don’t really have any problems with hearing probably take a lot of what we hear for granted. For example, speeches, movies, TV shows, game dialogue, and more. However, the good news is that if you happen to be hard of hearing but still want to enjoy games like everyone else, Microsoft is making great strides with Forza Horizon 5.

According to Mike Brown, Creative Director of Forza Horizon 5 of Playground Games, the developers will be adding American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) support for cinematics in the game. These sign language interpreters will appear as a picture-in-picture display that will help provide gamers with information that will help them experience the game’s storyline.

Now, some might question isn’t adding subtitles or closed captions easier than hiring someone to do sign language? It might seem that way, but according to Rupert Dubler, a certified interpreter, he told CNN last year when deaf Americans asked for sign language interpretation alongside captions during briefings that many members of the deaf community actually find closed captioning difficult to follow.

Plus, with sign language interpreters, the viewer will also be able to get a better understanding of the tone being used by watching their facial expressions or even the signs they make, something that wouldn’t be possible with regular captions.
